Surprisingly Winston Churchill liked FDR and tried hard to build a personal relationship with the President because Churchill realized that to win the war against Nazism England needed the US to enter the war - the sooner the better. Interestingly, though, Churchill easily sized up FDR and as it turns out every liberal president since. In a letter dated 29 August 1941 to his son Randolph, Churchill wrote,
"The President, for all his warm heart and good intentions, is thought by many of his admirers to move with public opinion rather to lead and form it."
This same description fit Clinton perfectly. It is the defining characteristic of the liberal. Even Obama, try as he might to be a real leader, bases his entire Administration on opinion polls and even worse takes the advice of ultra liberal groups like moveon.org
